Job Description: On behalf of our client, a major hospital in Cairns, we are seeking a skilled Trauma Surgeon to lead their Level 2 Trauma Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emergency surgical care for critically injured patients
  • Perform a wide range of trauma-related surgeries
  • Lead the multidisciplinary trauma team
  • Develop and implement trauma care protocols
  • Participate in the hospital’s disaster preparedness planning
  • Contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives in trauma care
  • Mentor junior surgeons and medical students
  • Collaborate with pre-hospital emergency services
  • Participate in community outreach programs for injury prevention


  • FRACS or equivalent, with additional fellowship training in Trauma and Critical Care
  • Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Minimum 7 years post-fellowship experience in Trauma Surgery
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent surgical skills and clinical decision-making abilities
  • Experience in managing a trauma center preferred
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
