Job Description: On behalf of our client, a major mental health facility in Melbourne, we are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Nurse to join their inpatient psychiatric unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive mental health nursing care to patients with various psychiatric conditions
  • Conduct mental health assessments and develop care plans
  • Administer medications and monitor their effects
  • Implement therapeutic interventions and group therapy sessions
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers
  • Manage crisis situations and de-escalate potentially violent situations
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing preferred
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 3 years experience in mental health nursing
  • Strong knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment modalities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a challenging and dynamic environment
